Special drive for checking of three wheelers/Auto Rikshaw

In order to control the menace of Commercial Passenger Vehicles and to streamline the traffic in District East, a special drive for checking of three wheelers/Auto Riskshaw was conducted by the officers of District Magistrate East in cooperation with officials of Enforcement Branch of Transport Department on 11.07.2015. Two teams were constituted for carrying out the operation. One team was lead by Sh. Rajanish Singh, ADM (East) and another by Sh. R.D. Sharma, SDM (Gandhi Nagar). The main areas of drive were Vikas Marg and Jheel Chowk. During the drive, the driving license, badge, permit, fitness certificate etc of Three Wheelers/Auto Riskshaw were checked. A total of
Eighteen (18) Commercial Vehicles were impounded and Six (06) Vehicles were challaned for flouting the rules.
Sh. Rajanish Singh, ADM further stated that this drive was conducted in pursuance of powers delegated to the Executive Magistrates under Motor Vehicle Act for checking of commercial vehicles and suspension of permits of erring vehicles. It was further stated that in future, the drive will be intensified and urged all the commercial vehicle owners and unions to follow the traffic rules and make it public friendly.
